AFC DUNSTABLE LADIES BLUES FC v Hitchin Town Ladies FC

The Blues played their first home game of the season with a starting line up of 9 players. Shortly into the first half Wells had to resign due to injury and AFC Dunstable continued on with just 8 players.

Our first goal of the season came from winger Georgie Liscio. Lauren Swinnerton recived the ball in her own half and played it to the feet of Charlie Peters. Peters went on to take the ball past several players before skilfully nutmegging another and playing it through to Liscio. Liscio remained composed to hold off 2 defenders and after her initial shot deflected off the keeper she slotted the ball home with her weaker foot.

The first half saw the ladies try hard but were sadly outnumbered by the opposition, leading to the home side trailing 5-1 at half time.

We welcomed back goalkeeper Kirsty Scott to the squad and despite the final score line, she pulled off some impressive saves to deny several Hitchin players. As the game went on, the home side who did well to make up for the lack of support, began to fatigue and despite their efforts couldn't hold back a determined Hitchin side. The final score line sadly did not reflect the efforts of the girls and had there been a full squad, the score line could have been much different.
